Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor Gregory Nthatisi has initiated a process of bringing the metro's law enforcement team together with South African National Defence Force officials based in Tempe Military Base, Bloemfontein.

This is following the incident that occurred on Tuesday 02, near Oranje Psychiatric Hospital.

A furore erupted between Municipal Traffic Officers and SANDF officials.

The matter was brought to the attention of the mayor, that whilst the City's traffic officers were carrying out their daily duty, they impounded a military motor vehicle which was according to city's officials in violation of traffic regulations.

Though the matter was settled, the executive mayor felt the matter must be addressed through proper channels.

"I want to assure people of Mangaung who saw some of the visuals through social media that this matter is receiving the necessary attention and to date we have made significant progress with regards to our relations," said Nthatisi.

A high-level meeting has been scheduled through intergovernmental relations to expedite the matter and harness historical and technical relations between the two institutions.
