TWO POLICE OFFICERS ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING A WOMAN AT BLOEMFONTEIN STATION

Two female officers, constable Lucia Marumo and sergeant Mamorena Shuping, are accused of assaulting Stephanie Booysen 40, at the Heidedal police station in Bloemfontein.

The constable and sergeant allegedly assaulted the Booysen when she went there on January 19.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson, Lizzy Suping said Booysen had gone to the police station to report domestic violence after her boyfriend had violated a protection order.

"It is alleged that the 40-year-old victim was assaulted by the officers following a disagreement that led to the assault inside the police station," said Suping.

The two officers were released on R1,000 bail each, after appearing at the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday, following their arrests on Thursday.
