CASH IN TRANSIT HEIST SUSPECTS NABBED

Two suspects between the ages of 39 and 42 were arrested on Thursday 17, by members of the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Welkom together with Crime Intelligence (CI) in Sasolburg, Fezile Dabi Trio Task team, Tactical Response Task Team (TRT) in Johannesburg and Fidelity Security in Johannesburg.

It is alleged that on 21 September 2024, at about 14:30, Fidelity security officials were collecting cash at a liquor store in Heilbron. While they were busy collecting cash four unknown suspects entered the liquor store and accosted a Fidelity security official and a liquor store security official.

The suspects then took the undisclosed amount of money and firearm belonging to the Fidelity security and fled the scene driving VW Polo and a BMW.

The case was registered and handed over to the Hawks' for further investigation culminating in the arrests of the suspects. The suspects are expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 21.
