The Mayor of Mohokare local municipality Teboho Mochechepa embarked on a project visit in Zastron/Matlakeng to attend to the grievances of the community regarding spillage sewage in the vicinity.
The campaign commenced last week Wednesday 30, at Refengkhotso and Phomolong, areas with dire conditions.
A number of complaints were lodged through the office of the Mayor from residents in various areas including town. The mayor assembled the team which compromised of ward councillors, municipal technical team, the consulting engineers, and main contractor including CLOs of the affected projects.
"The perceivable fact is sewerage spillage almost everywhere, which poses a serious health hazard for the residents of Refengkhotso and Phomolong. The stakeholders involved committed themselves in ensuring the proper completion of the project and rectification of hindrances," said Mayor Teboho Mochechepa.
He will prioritise the monitoring process and coordination between stakeholders in order for the project to be successful and completed.
The Mayor further apologised for the inconvenience caused by the incident of spillages to the entire residential areas of Refengkhotso and Phomolong.
Residents are urged to refrain from utilizing the sewage system for unwarranted purposes.
