The Free State province held a historic sitting of the 7th Provincial Legislature, Premier-Elect Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae was officially sworn in and subsequently inaugurated as the Premier of the province, today 14th, at the 4th Raadsaal in Bloemfontein.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Judge President C.
Musi of the Free State Division of the High Court, in accordance with Section 129 of the Constitution, which mandates that the Premier-Elect must assume office within five days of election by swearing or affirming faithfulness to the Republic and obedience to the Constitution.
The first sitting of the legislature, held to ensure the swearing-in of new members of the provincial legislature, also saw the election of key provincial leaders, including the Speaker.
This significant event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Free State as Premier Letsoha-Mathae takes office to lead the province following her inauguration.
Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae expressed her vision for the future, stating, "I am deeply honoured to serve as the Premier of the Free State. Together, we will work tirelessly to build a prosperous and inclusive province where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive." She further thanked the outgoing Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana, for laying the foundation for future progress and development in the province.
