Xhariep Integrated National Electrification Project Site Visit

The Xhariep District Executive Mayor Irene Mehlomakhulu accompanied by the Municipal Manager, the Corporate Services Director, the contractor and the project engineer, on Tuesday 23, met with Mayor Zingisa Mgauli, Speaker and Councillors of Mohokare Local Municipality, the Acting Municipal Manager and the Acting Technical Director regarding the electrification project (INEP) that Xhariep District Municipality is implementing on behalf of Mohokare Local Municipality.

The first session was a boardroom engagement accommodated at the SASSA boardroom facility in Smithfield, where background and progress on the INEP project was tabled by the district appointed Engineer, Lizile Mei.

The delegation proceeded to all sites in the three towns of Smithfield, Rouxville and Zastron.

Progress and recommendations were made and agreed on matters towards the proper satisfactory project handover to Mohokare Local Municipality.

One of the main objectives of the visit was to strengthen inter-municipal relations through service delivery.

The official project handover to Mohokare LM will be announced in due course when processes including the snag list are concluded.
