A non-profit organization Matla Tourism Youth Organisation, hailing from the dusty streets of Zastron, hosted yet another successful event.

This year's event marks the organisations 5th celebration of the late world war military veteran Lucas Majozi.

The event was held on October 02, at Mooifontein Primary School.

Matla Tourism Youth Organisation CEO Molahlehi Lechoo passed his gratitude to the community of Zastron and stakeholders that joined hands to ensure this year's event becomes a success.

Lechoo reiterated that the commemoration festival remains a beacon of hope for the residents of Matlakeng when it comes to nurturing and grooming talent.

"I would like to thank everyone who came and supported this year's event, without the support of the community and our sponsors our efforts would be futile. The festival is aimed at creating a platform for young people to showcase their talent and also preserve our culture. For years we have been grooming and nurturing young talents, we hope to continue being a beacon of hope to many talented youth", said Lechoo.

On the commemoration day Lere la Thuto Secondary School educator Sibongile Dlayedwa gave a brief history lesson and also noted the significance of preserving our culture.

Local pastor Lehlohonolo Thene uttered words of support and offered spiritual guidance.

The opening day saw performances from cultural dance groups deriving from Zastron youth, local artists also took the stage and entertained those in attendance.

The festival concluded with a soccer tournament were four teams were battling it out for bragging rights for the Zacufe Cup.

Dream Crushers FC scooped this year's trophy with a sterling performance.

Lechoo applauded the residents of Zastron for allowing their children to partake in this year's festival as he deemed it a success.

"Local organizations I really appreciate you guys for coming together and assisting us with hosting this prestigious event. The same gratitude goes to the community for allowing their children to partake, without them there wouldn't be an event", noted Lechoo.

He added, "To our sponsorships, likes of Bidvest Facilities Management, Thusano funeral services and Kitchen360, thank you guys on believing in the dreams of young people who need to be empowered and make a difference in their communities. Without your involvement is such initiatives young children would be left stranded".
